Filipino Lo Mein Beef Broccoli Recipe
The name “Lo Mein” comes from the Cantonese meaning “Stirred Noodles.”
The Cantonese usage of the character pronounced lōu and meant “to stir,” differs from the character’s usual meaning of “to dredge” or “to scoop out of the water.”
This Lo Mein Beef Brocolli Recipe is a healthy dish you should try. Below are some of the health benefits of the dish.
It is a Chinese dish with wheat flour noodles this is usually stirred with a sauce made from soy sauce and other seasonings and if you’re not a meat lover you can use seafood like (shrimp and squid) as an alternative.
“Lo Mein Recipe” is a dish that is easy to cook and with just 5-6 ingredients you will already prefer food that will satisfy your cravings you can also add chili oil to make it spicy and to have a powerful taste but it is optional.
You should be careful of cooking the beef so you can get the juiciness texture of the meat, and for the noodles take about 3 minutes after they’re cooked run them under cold water to chill them rapidly.

Health Benefits of Broccoli: a 100 gram serving of raw Broccoli provides 34 kcal and is an excellent source (20% or higher of the Daily Value, DV) of vitamin C and vitamin K.
Raw broccoli also contains moderate amounts (10–19% DV) of several B vitamins and the dietary mineral manganese, whereas other essential nutrients are in low content.
Broccoli has a low content of carbohydrates, protein, fat, and dietary fiber.
Boiling broccoli reduces the levels of sulforaphane, with losses of 20–30% after five minutes, 40–50% after ten minutes, and 77% after thirty minutes.
However, other preparation methods such as steaming, microwaving, and stir-frying had no significant effect on the compounds.
Filipino Lo Mein Beef Broccoli Recipe
Ingredients
- 8 oz dried egg noodles cooked according to package instructions
- 400 g beef sirloin thinly sliced
- ½ tsp ginger minced
- 1½ cups Broccoli florets
- 5 tbsp Light Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
- ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp Sherry Cooking Wine
- Salt and Pepper
- Cooking Oil
Instructions
- Mix well the 2½ tbsp. Soy Sauce, Sherry Cooking Wine, and Garlic powder in a bowl.
- Put the beef and Let it stay for 15 minutes.
- Add the cornstarch in the bowl with the beef and Mix well.
- Cook the Egg Noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
- Heat the cooking oil in a pan.
- Saute the marinated beef and cook for 5 Mins.
- Add the Broccoli and Cook for about 2 Mins.
- Add the cooked Egg Noodles, Toss and Cooked for 5 Mins.
- Combine the Oyster Sauce, Soy Sauce, Sugar, Ginger, Salt, and Pepper in a bowl.
- Pour the mixture on the noodles with beef and cook for 7 mins.
- Serve
